A note for those who open one of these up to repair in the future. I found that on my RD700sx it was not obvious how to re-install the sensor boards at the correct angle. In my case, the previous owner had been in it before and placed the boards at a slightly different angle than they were suppose to be, resulting in a large number of keys barely working or not at all. While the boards will appear to fit nicely if you have them in the shallower angle, it will result in few keys working properly. Be sure to install the boards at the same angle as the plastic mounting tabs are cut (where the screws are installed). If you can look in from the side and see a gap near the bottom of where the mounting tab gets screwed on, then you've got the board too shallow. Tip is slightly steeper until it clicks into the little plastic holding teeth on the bottom rather than resting way out on the outer edges of the teeth. Difficult to explain without photos, but If you take one of these apart, it should become more obvious. Many parts, including the sensor strips, hammers, keys, pads, and more are still available (in 2024) from the Syntaur website from what I could glean on a google search. Hope this helps someone down the road.

The only issue is this doesn’t look like automotive paint, which means it won’t have the necessary hardeners and other chemicals needed to bond to metal and primer.

Old man that lived down the street from me growing up did the same thing. You could only tell up close. He didn't have foam rollers, and it turned out great. Looks nice to me, great work man.

For me it was a weak spark due to the spark plug wires/ ignition coil. I successfully modified a GM D555/576 coil to work for my bike. Just used a couple shaved down spade connectors and a spark plug wiring kit. I had to make have moto and half car spark plug wires by salvaging my old moto spark boots and the other half from the wiring kit. Then it will fit the GM coil. Good luck 👍

My first motorcycle as a kid

Where would you line up the mark: 1). T at the crankshaft, and T at the cam sprocket. 2) T at the crankshaft, and F at the cam sprocket. 3). T at the crankshaft, and between T&F at the sprocket? I did option 1 above, it did not fire. Then I did option 2 above, it fires and drive ok, but when I engage the PTO clutch, it stalled. It seems the engine is not running at its ultimate state. I would like to try option 3 above and see if it solves the PTO clutch engaging issue. Is there anyone that have had this issue before and can help me? Thanks

Thank you so much for this! It saved my bacon. The only thing I would add is about the ribbon cables. I wasn't sure if there was a release for them or not so I hummed and hawed until eventually I just wiggled them out carefully. Also to stress that you need to detach the two ribbons attached to the keyboard and not to the circuitry which isn't clear at first. Also my ribbons were taped down so you need to remove the adhesive a little in order to attach/reattach them. Other than that it worked like a dream and saved me a lot of hassle and money. Thanks again!
